WHY DANDELIONS?

Picture
After a group of concerned citizens successfully lobbied to end the spraying of herbicide on its parks and playgrounds, the Town of Carbondale elected to adopt the dandelion as its official Town Flower. Now we celebrate their springtime arrival every year with a festival of sustainability.

WHO ARE WE?

Picture
Members of the Town of Carbondale Environmental Board and many citizen volunteers combine efforts to produce the annual Dandelion Day festival.
The Environmental Board is a group of appointed citizens who meet each month to discuss issues regarding the environmental health of the community. They make recommendations to the Carbondale Town Council regarding the adoption of statutes and regulations that improve and maintain the quality of our environment and promote sustainable practices.

The Environmental Board meets every fourth Monday of the month at Town Hall.

IT'S EASY BEING GREEN

Picture
Thanks to our Compost Crew of volunteers and Evergreen Zero Waste, Dandelion Day is super GREEN, meaning the food vendors are required to use compostable and recyclable servingware, trash is sorted on site, reusable shopping bags are encouraged and every effort is made to reduce waste going to the landfill.
